  • Apply service brake with pedal force of 175 lbs., and release.
  • Fully apply parking brake using approximately 125 lbs., of force on final stroke and release.
  • Apply and release parking brake two additional times.
  • Inspect parking brake pedal assembly for full release by turning ignition On and observing brake warning lamp. Lamp should be off.
  • If brake warning lamp is on and parking brake appears to be fully released, operate manual pedal release lever and pull downward on front park brake cable to remove slack from pedal assembly.

When the brake pedal is depressed, both the primary (front brake) and the secondary (rear brake) master cylinder pistons are moved simultaneously to exert hydraulic fluid pressure on their respective systems.

Perform manual or pressure bleeding as outlined before auto bleeding system.

  • Turn ignition switch to Off position.
  • Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assemblies.
  • Inspect brake system for leaks and damage.
  • Connect a suitably programmed scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), DLC is located in lefthand side of instrument panel below steering column.
  • Turn ignition switch to On position. Do not start engine.
