DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2005 Saab 9-2X AUTOMOBILES
Includes CV axle, universal joint, and driveline replacement, for domestic and imported 2005 Saab 9-2X cars and light trucks from 1990+.
CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> Front -> Install -> Rear -> Remove

Front
Remove
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove wheel and tire assembly.
- With an assistant applying brakes, remove axle shaft nut.
- Remove stabilizer link from transverse link.
- Disconnect transverse link from housing.
- Remove front drive shaft assembly from hub assembly. If difficult to remove, use axle shaft puller tool No. 32005197 and axle shaft puller plate tool No. 32005203 or equivalents. Be careful not to damage oil seal lip and ABS tone wheel when removing front drive shaft.
- Remove front drive shaft from transmission using pry bar.
Install
- Install NEW differential side retaine...

Vehicle: 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero 2.0 H4 GAS
Before removing the propeller shaft, wrap the metal parts with a cloth or rubber material.
In case of double offset joint (DOJ) type, before removing the propeller shaft, wrap the metal parts (installed at the rubber boot of center DOJ) with a cloth or rubber material. Rubber boot may be damaged due to interference with adjacent metal parts while bending the DOJ during removal.
- Disconnect ground cable from battery.
- Move select lever or gear shift lever to "N".
- Release parking brake.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove center exhaust pipes.
- Remove rear exhaust pipe and muffler.
