  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Mark wheel to axle flange relationship for installation alignment, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
  • Remove brake hose from caliper. Plug openings in caliper and brake hose.
  • Lift able spring to free end of from lever, then disconnect parking brake cable from lever.
  • Remove cable support bracket mounting bolt and washer.
  • Remove sleeve bolt and caliper.
  • Remove mounting bolts and caliper mounting bracket.
  • Remove rotor from hub and bearing.

Parking Brake

  • Apply service brake with pedal force of 175 lbs., and release.
  • Fully apply parking brake using approximately 125 lbs., of force on final stroke and release.
  • Apply and release parking brake two additional times.
  • Inspect parking brake pedal assembly for full release by turning ignition On and observing brake warning lamp. Lamp should be off.
  • If brake warning lamp is on and parking brake appears to be fully released, operate manual pedal release lever and pull downward on front park brake cable to remove slack from pedal assembly.
  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Inspect parking brake...

Replacement

  • Remove approximately 2/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder.
  • Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
  • Push piston back into caliper bore using suitable C-clamp, Fig. .
  • Remove inlet fitting mounting bolt, copper washer and inlet fitting from caliper housing. Plug opening in inlet fitting. Do not crimp brake hose.
  • Remove caliper mounting bolts and caliper, Fig. . If there are signs of corrosion, replace bolts when installing caliper assembly.
  • Reverse procedure to install.

Disassemble

  • Clean outside of caliper, then drain brake fluid from caliper...
