Dual Piston Calipers
The caliper consists of a sliding bridge type caliper housing with dual pistons, caliper mounting frame and inner and outer friction pad assemblies, Figs. and . The caliper is located into and slides on the anchor frame by its thrust face and a locating pin and clip. The friction pads are retained into the anchor frame by the caliper sliding bridge assembly and use an anti-rattle spring clip to reduce brake noise. If roughness or vibration is encountered during highway operation or if pedal pumping is experienced at low speeds, the disc may have excessive thickness variation. Measure the disc at 12 points with a micrometer at a radius approximately one inch from edge of disc. If thickness measurements vary by more than .0005 inch, replace the disc.

- Remove rear disc brake caliper as outlined under . Do not disconnect flexible hose unless caliper requires service.
- Support caliper with suitable wire or tie strap so flexible hose is not stretched or twisted.
- Remove rear disc support bracket to wheel knuckle bolts.
- Remove rear disc support bracket and brake shoes and linings.
- Remove two nuts and rotor.

On models with anti-lock brakes, the brake system power booster must be depressurized before disconnecting any hydraulic lines or fittings. Depressurize the system by pumping the brake pedal at least 25 times with the ignition in the Off position.
After performing any service work, obtain a firm brake pedal before moving the vehicle.
