Halfshafts are not serviceable. If wear or damage is present, replace entire halfshaft. When servicing halfshafts, ensure excessive angle is not applied to CV joints and that joints are not pulled apart or separated.
The halfshafts on models equipped with 3.9L engine are larger in diameter and are not interchangeable with halfshafts on models equipped with a 3.0L engine.

- Remove muffler, extension pipe and body brace.
- Remove heat shield.
- Inspect and record driveline angles.
- Place reference marks on bolts, washers, nuts and flex coupling to transmission flange and pinion flange for installation alignment.
