Vehicle: 2006 Mitsubishi Galant GTS 3.8 V6 GAS
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Raise vehicle on suitable lift.
- Remove bolts and plug securing lefthand engine undercover.
- Rotate or lift belt tensioner arm clockwise using a suitable tool to relieve tension from drive belt.
- Remove drive belt.
- Remove alternator electrical connectors from back of alternator. One connector is secured using a terminal nut.
- Remove bolt securing wiring harness bracket then set bracket aside.

Vehicle: 2006 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.4 L4 GAS
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove retainer securing air cleaner duct then pull up on duct to remove.
- Raise vehicle on suitable lift.
- Remove bolts securing automatic transaxle cooler line bracket assembly. Do not separate cooler line from cooler assembly. Secure cooler line with a cord in a location that will not interfere with removal of starter motor.
- Remove bolts securing starter cover then remove cover.
- Remove bolt securing starter cover bracket then remove bracket.
