STARTER & ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2007 BMW X5 AUTOMOBILES

Alternator, Replace
Vehicle: 2007 BMW X5 3.0SI 3.0 L6 GAS
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Twist and carefully pull idle speed sensor connector.
- Loosen clamp and detach air intake hose then unfasten hose clips.
- Release air cleaner housing with mass air flow sensor. Separate air cleaner housing from mass air flow sensor.
- Remove nuts using suitable tool securing fan clutch. Fan cowl may need to be removed to gain access to fan clutch assembly.
- Remove fan and clutch from coolant pump to remove. Turn fan clutch nuts clockwise to remove because of lefthand threads.
- Remove cap, loosen tensioner nut, and rotate or lift belt tensioner arm clockw...

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Raise vehicle on suitable lift.
- Remove bolts from reinforcement plate then remove plate.
- Remove control sensor using suitable tool.
- Disconnect monitor connector.
- Remove crankshaft sensor using suitable tool.
- Remove nut from righthand engine mount.
- Raise engine using suitable lifting hardware tools.
- Remove bolts securing heat shield then remove shield.
- Disconnect S-terminal connector from start...

STARTER & ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2007 BMW X5 AUTOMOBILES

Alternator, Replace
Vehicle: 2007 BMW X5 4.8I 4.8 V8 GAS
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Disconnect MAF sensor connector.
- Loosen hose clamp and detach air intake hose.
- Remove intake filter housing bolts then remove housing assembly.
- Remove bolts securing radiator cover.
- Disconnect cooling fan sensor connector.
- Disconnect oil cooler hoses. Drain fluid into suitable container and replace new O-rings upon installation.
- Lift fan cowl up and push retaining tabs in to remove fan cowl.
- Remove oil cooler mounting bolts from fan cowl and set aside.
- Remove fan clutch nuts using suitable tool.
