DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2007 Ford Freestyle AUTOMOBILES
Includes CV axle, universal joint, and driveline replacement, for domestic and imported 2007 Ford Freestyle cars and light trucks from 1990+.
DRIVESHAFT, Replace -> Rear
Vehicle: 2007 Ford Freestyle SEL 3.0 V6 GAS
Rear
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove muffler and tall pipe assembly.
- Remove exhaust support brace bolts, then the exhaust support brace.
- Remove and discard driveshaft flange bolts from rear axle pinion flange, then disconnect driveshaft from rear axle pinion flange. Failure to correctly index-mark the driveshaft will lead to noise, vibration or harshness (NVH) problems. Index-mark the driveshaft to the rear axle pinion flange, the power take off (PTO) flange and the center bearing bracket. Index-mark the driveshaft.

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> Front -> Rear
Vehicle: 2007 Ford Freestyle Limited 3.0 V6 GAS
Front
- Remove center hub cap from wheel.
- Loosen hub nut.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove hub nut and washer.
- Remove front brake anti-lock sensor harness from clip.
- Remove and position front brake anti-lock sensor aside.
- Remove and discard lower ball joint nut.
- Remove lower strut support nut and bolt. Discard nut.
- Using suitable tools, press ball joint stud until it is loose in knuckle.
- Wire knuckle to strut. This will prevent knuckle from falling off of strut while knuckle and lower ball joint are separated. Failure to follow these instructions...
