This procedure describes a driveline equipped with cardan joint in tube yoke. Driveline equipped wit companion/slip yoke repeat steps to remove remaining cardan joint.
- Place driveshaft on suitable workbench. Do not damage driveshaft when servicing on workbench. Ensure driveline and components are reference marked to prevent driveline imbalance.
- Tap outside of bearing cap with a drift to loosen snap ring.
- Remove snap rings from both sides of yoke using suitable tool.
- Position yoke with grease fitting pointing up, if equipped.

On models equipped with 4WD (four wheel drive) and certain model transaxles, a support bracket is used between front axle and side of transaxle. Remove support bracket bolts at transaxle. Carefully pry support bracket slightly to gain access to lower starter mounting bolt.
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Raise vehicle on suitable lift.
- On models equipped with manual transaxle, remove bolt and nut securing starter motor.
