ABS Automated Bleed
The base hydraulic brake system must be bled before performing this automated bleeding procedure.
- Connect a suitable scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
- Start engine and allow engine to idle.
- Follow instructions on scan tool to access automated bleed procedure.
- Apply brake pedal when instructed by scan tool.
- Turn ignition off and remove scan tool from vehicle.
- Fill brake master cylinder reservoir to maximum fill level with brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.
- Bleed hydraulic brake system as outlined under "Hydraulic Brake System... "

Master Cylinder
Some vehicles use a conventional tandem master cylinder with two hydraulic pistons operating in-line. The primary piston controls the front brake system and the secondary piston controls the rear brake system.

Removal
- Siphon 2/3 of the brake fluid from master cylinder.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Compress caliper pistons until they bottom in bores using suitable clamp, Fig. .
- Disconnect brake hose at caliper by removing inlet fitting bolt.
- Remove mounting bolts and caliper.
Inspection
Should it become required to remove the caliper for installation of new components, clean components in denatured alcohol, wipe dry using lint-free cloths. Blow out drilled passages and holes using compressed air. Inspect dust boots for punctures or tears. If punctures or tears are...

- Remove air cleaner assembly.
