On all models except Grand Prix, the caliper assembly has a single bore and is mounted to the support bracket with two mounting bolt and sleeve assemblies, Fig. . Hydraulic pressure created by applying the brake pedal is converted by the caliper to a stopping force. This force acts equally against the piston and the bottom of the piston bore to move the piston outward and to slide the caliper inward resulting in a clamping action. This clamping action presses the linings against the rotor, creating friction to stop the vehicle.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Mark wheel to axle flange relationship for installation alignment, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove brake hose from caliper. Plug openings in caliper and brake hose.
- Lift able spring to free end of from lever, then disconnect parking brake cable from lever.
- Remove cable support bracket mounting bolt and washer.
- Remove sleeve bolt and caliper.
- Reverse procedure to install, then bleed brakes.
