- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Remove wheel nuts and front wheels.
- Lift up locking tab on spindle nut then remove nut.
- Drain transmission fluid into suitable container and reinstall drain plug using a new washer.
- Separate front stabilizer link.
- Remove lock pin from lower arm ball joint castle nut, and remove nut then separate ball joint from lower arm lower arm using ball joint thread protector and remover. To avoid damaging ball joint, install ball joint thread protector onto threads of ball joint. Be careful not to damage ball joint boot when installing remover.

- Loosen the lug nuts.
- Raise and support vehicle with jack stands, then remove the wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove the valve cap and core.
- Deflate the tire completely.
- Remove any balance weights.
- Prior to dismounting the tire from the wheel, note the following precautions:
- Do outside of wheel first.
- Position the bead breaking fixture 90 degrees from the valve stem when separating the tire bead from the wheel, Fig. .
