DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2008 Land Rover LR2 AUTOMOBILES
Includes CV axle, universal joint, and driveline replacement, for domestic and imported 2008 Land Rover LR2 cars and light trucks from 1990+.
DRIVESHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 2008 Land Rover LR2 HSE 3.2 L6 GAS
Front
- Disconnect negative cable from battery.
- Raise and support front of vehicle.
- Remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove underbelly panel.
- Remove three bolts and remove splash shield.
- Remove stake from drive shaft nut.
- With an assistant applying the brakes, remove and discard drive shaft nut.
- Remove clip securing brake hose and release hose from damper bracket.
- Release ABS sensor harness and brake hose from damper.
- Release ABS sensor from hub.
- Remove two bolts securing brake caliper to hub. Release caliper from hub and tie aside. Do not allow caliper to hang on brake hose.

Vehicle: 2008 Land Rover LR2 SE 3.2 L6 GAS
Always remove the propeller shafts and viscous coupling as an assembly. Dismantling the individual units on the vehicle may cause damage to the components.
Never unbolt the viscous coupling support bearings from the body without first detaching the propeller shafts at the differential and IRD. The weight of the center section will pull the CV joint apart, causing irreparable damage.
Never allow the CV joint to be manipulated to an acute angle. This will cause the internal roller bearings to break up, leading to excessive backlash and CV joint failure.
