- Open the glove compartment.
- Push inward on the sides of the glove compartment bin, then lower the glove compartment.
- Remove the clip securing the dampener from the bin clip hole by sliding the retaining clip rearward.
- Pivot the glove compartment downward and detach the hooks from the instrument panel.

If the CAL indicator lights, the compass will need to be calibrated. This should be done on a level surface free of large metal objects such as other vehicles, bridges, buildings, railroads and underground cables. Proceed as follows:
- Set the mini trip computer to Compass/Temp mode using STEP Button, Fig. .
- Press the US/M and STEP buttons simultaneously until CAL is displayed.
- Drive the vehicle in two complete circles.
- When the CAL indicator turns Off, compass has been calibrated and should now display proper headings.
