- Disconnect master cylinder from booster leaving brake lines connected and secure cylinder aside.
- Start engine and operate engine at idle speed.
- With engine running, position gauge over pushrod. Gauge should bottom against booster housing with force of approximately five lbs. applied to pushrod, Fig. . Ensure pushrod is properly seated in booster when performing gauge inspection.
- If force required to seat gauge is more than five lbs., shorten length of pushrod.
- If force required to seat gauge is less than five lbs., lengthen pushrod.

Do not, under any circumstance, clamp driveshaft assembly in jaws of a vise or similar holding fixture. Denting or localized fracturing may result, causing driveshaft failure during vehicle operation. Place driveshaft on a suitable workbench. Do not damage tube.
- Remove driveshaft.
- If components are not marked and therefore installed incorrectly, driveshaft imbalance can occur. Index-mark driveshaft components.
- Remove and discard all 4 of snap rings.
- Place a suitable tool in a vise.
