The sight glass is a refrigerant level indicator. To check the refrigerant level, clean the sight glass and start the vehicle. Place the A/C controls to the Max cool position, blower on Hi and A/C switch On. After operating the system a few minutes, check the sight glass for conditions as follows:
- If the sight glass is clear, the magnetic clutch is engaged, the compressor discharge line is warm and the compressor inlet line is cool the system has a full charge.

This valve assemblyFig. , is comprised of a warning switch, proportioning valve, and a hold-off valve.
The warning switch detects system failure when a pressure difference occurs between the front and rear brake systems. In such a case, the valve piston shuttles toward the side with the low pressure, forcing the switch plunger upward over the piston's tapered shoulder.
