Dual Piston Calipers
The caliper consists of a sliding bridge type caliper housing with dual pistons, caliper mounting frame and inner and outer friction pad assemblies, Figs. through . The caliper is located into and slides on the anchor frame by its thrust face and a locating pin and clip. The friction pads are retained into the anchor frame by the caliper sliding bridge assembly and use an anti-rattle spring clip to reduce brake noise. The friction pads are retained into the sliding bridge assembly by clips located on the back of the friction pad.

- Remove center hub cap from wheel.
- Loosen hub nut.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove hub nut and washer.
- Remove front brake anti-lock sensor harness from clip.
- Remove and position front brake anti-lock sensor aside.
- Remove and discard lower ball joint nut.
- Remove lower strut support nut and bolt. Discard nut.
- Using suitable tools, press ball joint stud until it is loose in knuckle.

TPMS Sensor Activation
To conserve battery power, the TPMS sensors will go into a sleep mode after approximately 30 minutes of inactivity. The sensors will not transmit tire pressure information while in sleep mode. The sensors must be activated to transmit the latest tire pressure information.
- Place the ignition switch in the On position.
- Position Ford TPMS activation tool, or equivalent, against the LF tire side wall 180 degrees from the valve stem.
- The TPMS activation tool will flash a green light and sound a beep for each successful response from a TPMS sensor.

This lamp should light when the ignition is turned On. After engine starts, the lamp should go off, unless a fault condition is detected in the powertrain system. If the lamp remains On a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the PCM. Following diagnosis and repair, the Powertrain Malfunction Indicator will automatically reset when stored diagnostic trouble codes are cleared from PCM memory. The PCM reset procedure allows the scan tool to command the PCM to clear all diagnostic trouble codes.
