Fuel System Pressure Relief
- On all models except 1990-96 300ZX, remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse panel.
- On 1990-96 300ZX, disconnect the fuel pump relay, located behind the lefthand side kick panel.
- On all models, start and run the engine until it stalls.
- After the engine stalls, crank two or three times to ensure all fuel pressure is relieved.
- On all models except 1990-96 300ZX, turn the ignition Off, then install the fuel pump fuse.
- On 1990-96 300ZX, turn the ignition Off, then connect the fuel pump relay.

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Raise vehicle on suitable lift.
- Remove bolts for engine front undercover then remove undercover.
- Rotate or lift belt tensioner arm clockwise, using a suitable tool to relieve tension from drive belt. Do not turn belt tensioner counterclockwise. If this step is not followed replacement of belt tensioner and new pulley is required.

The MIL will illuminate to indicate that a system fault has been detected. The MIL will blink simultaneously with the red Light Emitting Diode (LED) on the Electronic Control Module (ECM). Following diagnosis and repair of all system faults, reset the MIL lamp. The DTCs can be cleared by placing the ignition switch in the off position.
