ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU)
Do not touch electrical connections and pins or allow them to come into contact with brake fluid.
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Disconnect electrical connectors from ECU.
- Pry up tab at rear of ECU and remove unit toward front of vehicle.
- Slide unit into bracket until tab locks into hole.
- Inspect electrical connectors for brake fluid contamination, clean with alcohol as needed, then connect electrical connectors to ECU.
ISOLATION/DUMP VALVE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect brake lines from control valve, the plug lines and open fittings.

REMOVAL
- Remove caliper assembly as outlined above.
- Remove inboard pad with retainer spring. Dislodge outboard pad and position caliper on the front suspension so the brake hose will not support the weight of the caliper.
- Remove two sleeves from inboard ears of the caliper.
- Remove four rubber bushings from the grooves in each of the caliper ears.
INSTALLATION
- Lubricate new sleeves, rubber bushings, bushing grooves and mounting bolt ends with Delco Silicone Lube or equivalent.

More seals and valves are used with power brake systems than with ordinary brakes, so an inferior brake fluid will do much more damage. These brakes have self-adjusting shoe mechanisms that assure correct lining-to-drum clearances at all times. The automatic adjusters operate only when the brakes are applied as the vehicle is moving rearward or when the car comes to an uphill stop.
Although the brakes are self-adjusting, an initial adjustment is necessary after the brake shoes have been relined or replaced, or when the length of the adjusting screw has been changed during some other service operation. Refer to "Installation" for this procedure.
