- Stop engine and depress brake pedal several times to reduce vacuum in the booster.
- Push pedal until resistance is felt. Measure distance, Fig. .
- If pedal freeplay is not .12-.24 inch, adjust pedal freeplay as follows:
- Adjust pedal freeplay by turning the pedal pushrod.
- Start engine and confirm that pedal freeplay exists.
- After adjusting pedal freeplay, check pedal height as outlined under "Brake Pedal Height,... "

DISC BRAKES -> Rear Disc Brakes & Parking Brakes -> CALIPER REPLACEMENT -> ES 250 & ES 300 -> LS 400, SC300 & SC 400

- Remove union bolt and disconnect brake hose from caliper.
- Remove caliper bolts and caliper from torque plate.
- Remove brake pads as previously described.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Torque caliper bolts to 14 ft. lbs.
- Torque union bolt to 22 ft. lbs. on ES 250 models or 14 ft. lbs. on ES 300 models.
- Fill reservoir, bleed brakes and check for leaks.

- Measure brake pedal height, Fig. .
- If pedal height is not 6.988-7.382 inch on ES 250, 5.81-6.20 on ES 300, 5.92-6.31 inch on SC 300 and SC 400 or 5.62-6.02 inch on LS 400 models, adjust pedal height as follows:
- Remove the undercover and lower dash finish panel as outlined under "Instrument Panel, Replace" in "Dash Panel Service".
