Remove wheels and inspect brake disc, caliper and linings. The wheel bearings should be inspected at this time and repacked if necessary. Do not get any grease on the linings.
If the caliper is cracked or fluid leakage through the casting is evident, it must be replaced as a unit.
Should it become necessary to remove the caliper for installation of new parts, clean all parts in alcohol, wipe dry using lint free cloths. Using an air hose, blow out drilled passages and bores. - Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Using a chisel, unstake and remove halfshaft retaining nut and washer.Discard nut and washer.
- Remove brake pads and caliper from the steering knuckle as outlined. Support the caliper by a wire strung from the coil spring. Do not disconnect the brake line from the caliper.
- Using tie rod end separator tool No. T85M-3395-A or equivalent, disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
