- Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Drain a portion of brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir.
- Disconnect brake wear wire, then remove bolt (1) while holding guide (2), Fig. .
- Swing caliper up on its remaining mounting bolt and remove brake pads.
- Check for leaks around piston, seal, boots and holes.
- Check wear on old disc and proper sliding action of piston. Replace all parts showing wear or damage.
- Clean and inspect piston surface, caliper and disc. Push piston back to the end of its travel.
- Reverse procedure to install.

- Place plug in brake line and save pipe retainer.
- Remove hose and plug caliper hole.
- Remove bolt to immobilize guide, then disconnect parking brake cable from caliper.
- Remove caliper. Do not drain brake fluid from caliper.

- Loosen parking brake cable locknuts, then remove adjusting nuts.
- Remove plug from drum, Fig. , then insert a screwdriver through back plate and move parking brake lever outward to release brake shoes.
- Reinstall plug, then remove drum.
- Remove lower return spring, Fig. .
- Release upper return spring, then position a clamp on brake cylinder and move shoes outward as far as possible.
