• On models equipped with Rear Wheel Anti-Lock brakes (RWAL), connect one end of a suitable hose to bleeder valve on RWAL hydraulic valve and submerge other end in a glass container partially filled with clean brake fluid.
• Pump brake pedal several times, then hold pedal down firmly.
• With pedal firmly depressed, open bleeder valve until pedal fades to floor, then close bleeder valve.
• Repeat procedure until a continuous flow of brake fluid is released from bleeder valve. Ensure a fluid level is maintained in master cylinder at all times.

DE-PRESSURIZING HYDRAULIC ACCUMULATOR

The ABS pump/motor assembly will keep the hydraulic accumulator charged to a pressure between 1600-2000 psi anytime the ignition is in the ON position. The pump/motor cannot run if the ignition is off or either battery cable is disconnected.

The hydraulic accumulator should be depressurized before disassembling any portion of the hydraulic system.

• Turn ignition switch to the OFF position, or disconnect battery ground cable.

HYDRAULIC VALVE, REPLACE

• Disconnect battery ground cable.
• Raise and support vehicle.
• Disconnect electrical connectors from valve, Figs. and .
• Disconnect brake lines from hydraulic valve.
• Remove hydraulic valve attaching screws and the valve.
• Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
• Torque valve attaching screws to 16-25 ft. lbs.
• Bleed brake system as described under "Bleeding Brakes" in "Hydraulic Brake" section.

REMOVAL

• Remove caliper assembly as outlined above.
• Remove outboard pad by prying between the pad and the caliper fingers, Fig. , since flanges on outboard pad retain caliper firmly. Caliper should be supported to avoid damage to the flexible brake hose.
• Remove inboard brake pad from the adapter, Fig. .

INSTALLATION

Remove approximately ^{1 /3} of the brake fluid out of the reservoir to prevent overflow when pistons are pushed back into the bore.

The switch activates a light on the dash panel to indicate that one of the hydraulic systems has failed. There are two basic types of switches.
