BRAKE WARNING LAMP SWITCHES
There are four basic types of brake warning lamp switches as shown,Figs. through . When a pressure differential occurs between the front and rear brake systems, the valves will shuttle toward the side with the low pressure.
In the switch shown inFig. , movement of the differential valve forces the switch plunger upward over the tapered shoulder of the valve to close the switch contacts and light the dual brake warning lamp, signaling a brake system failure.

- On models with ABS, remove ABS wheel speed sensor.
- On all models, remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Unstake, then remove driveshaft nut and washer.
- Remove ball joint pinch bolt, then pry ball joint from knuckle.
- On models except sedan, pry inboard driveshaft joints from transaxle using a pry bar or large screwdriver.
- On sedan models, remove drive axle as follows:
