When the brake pedal is depressed, pedal pressure assisted by power from the servo unit pushes the input rod into the master cylinder. The input rod pushes the primary plunger up the bore which closes the cut-off port to the fluid reservoir. This creates pressure ahead of the primary plunger. This pressure also acts on the secondary plunger, pushing it up the bore and closing the cut-off port from the secondary chamber. BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, REPLACE
- Remove accumulator as described in "Accumulator, Replace."
- Remove hydraulic unit as described in "Hydraulic Unit, Replace."
- Disconnect pump inlet hose from brake fluid reservoir, then remove reservoir to hydraulic unit attaching screw.
- Lift reservoir off hydraulic unit, then remove rubber bushings from hydraulic unit. Take care not to lose spacer and O-ring on rear connection.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Install two new rubber bushings into hydraulic unit.
- Bleed brake system as described in "Bleeding Brakes."
