- Run engine at idle with A/C on for at least ten minutes.
- Shut off engine, then disconnect battery ground cable, remove battery and discharge and recover system refrigerant.
- On models equipped with 2VZ-FE engine, remove ignitor bracket, radiator fan and condenser fan.
- On all models, disconnect clutch lead wire from wiring harness.
- Disconnect refrigerant lines at compressor, capping all openings.
- Loosen compressor drive belt, then remove compressor mounting bolts and the compressor.

- Remove front wheel and reinstall lug nuts to locate disc temporarily.
- Check that brake pad thickness is at least .039 inch (1mm). Replace pads if too thin.
- Remove caliper from torque plate and suspend so brake hose is not under tension. Do not disconnect brake hose.
- Refer to Figs. through , and remove the following components:
- Brake pads.
- Anti-squeal shims.
- Pad wear indicator plates.
- Support plates.
- Anti-squeal springs.
- Install new pad support plates.

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels as necessary and front fender apron seal.
- Remove cotter pin, locknut cap and locknut from axle spline.
- Drain transmission fluid, then using a suitable puller, disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle.
- Disconnect stabilizer bar link from lower control arm.
- Disconnect ball joint from steering knuckle.
