- On models equipped with anti-lock brakes, prior to disconnecting any hydraulic lines or fittings, hydraulic system must be depressurized by pumping the brake pedal a minimum of 25 times with ignition switch in OFF position.
- On all models, grease or any other foreign material must be kept off caliper, disc surfaces and external hub surfaces during service procedures. Handling brake disc and caliper should be done in a way to avoid deforming disc and nicking or scratching brake linings.
- If inspection reveals rubber piston seals are worn or damaged, they should be replaced immediately.

The parking brake system is a drum type design mounted in the hubs of the rear brake rotors.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove caliper as previously outlined, then the rotor assembly.
- Drain differential fluid from axle by removing cover.
- Remove lock bolt from differential pinion shaft, then the pinion shaft from differential.
- Push axle shaft inward to gain access to axle shaft C-lock, then remove C-lock.
- Remove ABS speed sensor, then the axle shaft from axle housing.
