- Place ignition switch in Lock position.
- Disconnect and isolate battery ground cable.
- Wait at least two minutes after disconnecting battery ground cable before doing any further work on vehicle. The air bag system is designed to retain enough voltage to deploy air bags for a short time even after battery has been disconnected.

- Connect manifold gauge set and tachometer.
- Set A/C controls to Max A/C, temperature lever to cool, and blower on High.
- Start engine and adjust speed to 1000 RPM with compressor clutch engaged.
- Engine should be warmed up with vehicle doors and windows closed.
- Place thermometer in left center A/C air outlet. Run engine for 5 minutes to allow temperatures to stabilize. Compressor clutch may cycle.
