- On models equipped with anti-lock brakes, prior to disconnecting any hydraulic lines or fittings, hydraulic system must be depressurized by pumping the brake pedal a minimum of 25 times with ignition switch in OFF position.
- On all models, grease or any other foreign material must be kept off caliper, disc surfaces and external hub surfaces during service procedures. Handling brake disc and caliper should be done in a way to avoid deforming disc and nicking or scratching brake linings.

Operation
The rear anti-lock brake system (RABS II) monitors rear wheel speed through a rear axle mounted sensor. If a lockup condition begins to develop, the RABS II module will control hydraulic pressure to the rear brakes, inhibiting wheel lockup.

Any time brake drums are removed for brake service, braking surface diameter should be checked with a suitable micrometer at several points to determine if they are within the safe oversize limit stamped on the brake drum outer surface. If braking surface diameter exceeds specifications, the drum must be replaced. If braking surface diameter is within specifications, drums should be cleaned and inspected for cracks, scores, deep grooves, taper, out of round and heat spotting.
