This fan, Fig. , is driven by an electric motor which is attached to the radiator support. The cooling fan is controlled by the PCM, based on inputs from the coolant temperature sensor, A/C fan control switch and vehicle speed. The PCM controls the fan through a ground circuit, which energizes the fan control relay, supplying voltage to the fan motor.
The PCM grounds the circuit when coolant temperature is over 223°F or when A/C is On.

- Remove the engine cover, then disconnect electrical connectors from compressor and clutch.
- Loosen idle pulley and disconnect compressor drive belt.
- Remove compressor manifold attaching bolt and manifold from rear of compressor, then cap all connections.
- Remove carburetor vacuum break to provide clearance, if necessary.
