Removal
  • Disconnect battery ground cable.
  • Remove sufficient brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir.
  • Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
  • Remove disc brake caliper as outlined in "Caliper Service".
  • On 2WD models, remove hub grease cap, cotter pin, nut retainer, hub spindle nut and front outer wheel bearing washer, then remove outer wheel bearing.
  • On all models, remove front disc brake hub and rotor.
  • On 4WD models, remove hub as outlined under "Halfshaft, Replace," in the "All Wheel Drive System" section.

Removal

  • With engine off, depress brake pedal several times to discharge the accumulator.
  • Remove master cylinder from brake booster and position up and out of the way. Do not apply booster with master cylinder removed.
  • Disconnect three hydraulic lines from booster, then disconnect input pushrod from brake pedal assembly, Fig. .
