- Connect suitable pressure gauge or reclaim/recycle equipment to discharge side of compressor, then attach clamp-on thermocouple part No. P.S.E. 66-324-0014, 80PK-1A or equivalent, to liquid line as shown in Fig. It must be attached as close to condenser as possible to read liquid line temperature.

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove sufficient brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove disc brake caliper as outlined in "Caliper Service".
- On 2WD models, remove hub grease cap, cotter pin, nut retainer, hub spindle nut and front outer wheel bearing washer, then remove outer wheel bearing.
- On all models, remove front disc brake hub and rotor.
- On 4WD models, remove hub as outlined under "Halfshaft, Replace," in the "All Wheel Drive System" section.

Remove
- Remove front wheel cover/hub cover from wheel and tire assembly and loosen lug nuts.
- Raise vehicle on a frame contact hoist and remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Insert steel rod in brake rotor to prevent turning. Remove front axle wheel hub retaining nut and washer. Discard wheel hub retainer nut. It is a torque prevailing design and cannot be reused.
- Remove nut from ball joint-to-front wheel knuckle retaining bolt.
- Drive bolt out of front wheel knuckle using a punch and hammer.
- Remove front brake anti-lock sensor and position out of way.

When using NGS tool No. 007-00500, or equivalent, select Diagnostic Test Mode Results, then press CLEAR or disconnect battery ground cable. Codes will be erased from back-up memory after 24 hours.

- Disconnect diagnostic connector.
- Jump BL/W and GY/BL wires using suitable jumper wire.
- Wait about two seconds.
- Remove jumper wire and reconnect diagnostic connector.
