Service procedures given are for compressor removed and mounted in suitable holding fixture. However, on most applications, compressor clutch components can be serviced without removing compressor or recovering refrigerant from system. If refrigerant recovery becomes necessary, refer to > for procedure.
To prevent serious internal compressor damage, when removing or installing clutch components, never apply pressure directly to the compressor shaft. Always use a suitable shaft protector.

- Attach inner cable and sheath to dash panel control.
- Move temperature cable to Cold then attach loop on inner cable to temperature door on heater case.
- Attach cable sheath to heater case, then move temperature lever to full Heat. This will require force to slide inner cable clip to its proper position.
- Move temperature adjusting lever quickly from Cold to Hot. Door should be heard seating at stops.

On models equipped with a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Vehicle Control Module (VCM) controlled A/C system, connect a suitable Scan Tool to the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC), normally located behind the lefthand side of the instrument panel, near the steering column.
