Air temperature should be at least 70°F when performing this test.
- Connect manifold gauge set and tachometer.
- Set A/C controls to Max A/C, Recirc, temperature lever to cool, and blower on High.
- Start engine and adjust speed to 1000 RPM with compressor clutch engaged. Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature.
- On Full Size Van and 1996 Dakota models, ensure vehicle doors and windows are closed.
- On Ram 1500-3500 Pickup and 1997 Dakota models, ensure vehicle doors and windows are open. ...

- With engine stopped, pump brake pedal four or five times to deplete vacuum in power booster.
- Disconnect brake lines at master cylinder.
- Remove ground wire from combination valve bracket.
- Remove master cylinder retaining nuts, Fig. .
- Slide combination valve bracket off cylinder mounting studs. Loosen or disconnect brake lines at rear anti-lock valve and combination valve, if required.
- Remove master cylinder.
