- Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheels.
- Release parking brake lever and push rear brake pads back until brake disc rotates freely.
- Open tray behind handbrake lever, then remove rubber inlay and insert.
- Loosen turnbuckle until cables are without pretension.
- Insert screwdriver into threaded wheel bolt hole.
- Rotate parking brake adjustment sprocket until disc cannot be rotated by hand.
- Loosen adjuster by five notches until wheel can be turned, then another four notches.

- Remove brake booster operating rod lockpin.
- Remove master cylinder attaching bolt from luggage compartment floor plate.
- Drain brake fluid reservoir.
- Disconnect electrical connectors for stop light switch, then the vacuum hose at brake booster and brake lines at master cylinder.
- Remove brake booster brace upper mounting bolt and booster base attaching nuts, then the master cylinder and booster as an assembly. Brace and operating rod do not have to be disconnected at pedal assembly to remove brake booster.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove wheels and brake pads.
- Disconnect brake hydraulic line. Using a suitable device, depress and hold brake pedal to restrict flow of brake fluid from reservoir.
- Remove caliper retaining bolts, caliper, and metal shield.
- Loosen bleeder valve and carefully blow hydraulic fluid out of caliper. Recommended air pressure for fluid removal is 14 psi.
- Position caliper in a soft jaw vise, and remove clamping ring and dust boot.

Connect Porsche System Tester 2, or equivalent, scan tool to the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC), then follow scan tool instructions to access ABS diagnostic codes. The DLC is located under the lefthand side of the instrument panel, left of the steering column, Fig. .

This anti-lock brake system, Fig. , prevents wheel lockup by controlling hydraulic pressure to the two front brake calipers and the rear wheel circuit.
If any lockup is detected by the individual wheel speed sensors, the inlet valve for that wheel is closed to prevent any further increase in brake pressure. If wheel continues to lockup, the outlet valve is opened and brake fluid is pumped back to the brake master cylinder through the return pump until wheel begins to turn again.
