Accessing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Command codes instruct the ECU to perform certain functions while accessing diagnostic trouble codes.
Refer to Fig. for ISAT command codes.
The ECU connector on the wiring loom is in the form of a molded plug, test probes cannot be connected to the back of the connector.
Use breakout box 8611006 with test lead set 8611030, which should be connected between the ECU and the connector.
All measurements on the system must be made with breakout box connected.

- Remove bar fixed between spring struts, then the air canister over throttle body.
- Remove master cylinder as outlined under "Hydraulic Brake Systems."
- Remove brake servo vacuum hose.
- Disconnect electrical distribution box and move aside.
- Remove four brake servo retaining nuts from bracket.
- Remove rubber gaiter from bulkhead partition and pull it toward servo container.
- Disconnect pushrod clip, then the brake servo container.
- Reverse procedure to install. Ensure brake pipe connections do not leak.

Master Cylinder Overhaul
When working on any hydraulic brake components it is extremely important to keep the work area clean. Clean any parts that are to be reused with new brake fluid or a cleaning fluid specifically designed for hydraulic components. Wipe all parts dry using clean lint-free paper or cloth. Gaskets, seals, O-rings and rubber components should not be reused. Prior to assembly, all components should be generously lubricated with clean brake fluid.

ETS ECU Calibration
Calibration must be carried out after replacing any major system component, such as ETS ECU, TC/ABS ECU, pedal potentiometer or throttle housing.
- Start and run engine until normal operating temperature is reached. If the engine will not run correctly during warm up cycle, establish ISAT communications and enter command code 974 in order to enter basic data and enable warm up to be completed.

- The diagnostic socket (green) is located below the righthand front seat.
- During fault diagnosis, the ignition switch must always be in the On position.
- The ISAT system number for the ABS system is number 3.
- Always read off and note down all stored diagnostic trouble codes before disconnecting the battery or ECU.
- If communication cannot be established between ISAT and the ECU, check the leads between ECU pins 23 and 42 and the diagnostic socket. Also ensure the power feed and ground circuits to the diagnostic socket are good and the connector pins are not damaged.
