- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove rear wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove two caliper assembly to adapter guide pin bolts.
- Remove caliper from adapter as follows:
- Rotate top of caliper away from adapter.
- Lift caliper off bottom abutment on adapter.
- Support caliper assembly from rear strut to prevent flexible brake hose damage.
- Remove rear rotor from hub by pulling it straight off wheel mounting studs.
Overhaul
- Remove caliper from rotor as described under "Brake Pad Service."

- Remove rear disc brake caliper assembly, as described under " Caliper Service," from adapter and rotor.
- Remove rear rotor from hub, then the dust cap.
- Remove cotter pin, nut retainer, wave washer and rear hub/bearing assembly retaining nut and washer from rear spindle.
- Remove rear hub and bearing assembly from rear spindle.
- On Neon, Concord, LHS, Intrepid and Vision models, remove rear brake shoe assembly hold-down clip.

The single piston, floating caliper disc brake assembly, Fig. , consists of the rotor, caliper, pads and the driving hub. The caliper is mounted through bushings and sleeves by two through-bolts threaded into an adapter. Two machined abutments on the adapter position and align the caliper fore and aft. The mounting bolts and bushings control the movement of the caliper and the piston seal to assist in maintaining proper pad clearance.
