- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Unplug field circuit from alternator.
- Remove B+ terminal cover by spreading cover with a small flat blade tool.
- Remove B+ terminal nut and wire.
- Loosen adjusting bolt, but do not remove.
- Loosen pivot bolt, but do not remove.
