- Place shift lever in neutral.
- Raise vehicle off ground and support it with safety stands in proper locations.
- Mark flange on front drive. Its recommended to use paint for reference marks. Never damage driveshaft flange and companion flange on front drive.
- Remove exhaust and transfer protectors.
- Remove bolts and then remove driveline from front final drive and transfer case.
- Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
- Torque wheel lug nuts to 85 ft. lbs.
- Torque driveline to transfer companion flange mounting bolts to 46 ft. lbs.

This procedure describes a driveline equipped with cardan joint in tube yoke. Driveline equipped wit companion/slip yoke repeat steps to remove remaining cardan joint.
- Place driveshaft on suitable workbench. Do not damage driveshaft when servicing on workbench. Ensure driveline and components are reference marked to prevent driveline imbalance.
- Tap outside of bearing cap with a drift to loosen snap ring.
- Remove snap rings from both sides of yoke using suitable tool.
- Position yoke with grease fitting pointing up, if equipped.
