Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) may be read using a suitably programed scan tool. There are no provisions for flash code diagnostics.
- Turn ignition switch to Off position.
- Connect suitably programmed scan tool connected to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under lefthand side of instrument panel below steering column.
- Turn ignition switch to On position.

- Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Mark drum and axle hub, then remove brake drum. If brake lining is dragging on brake drum, back off brake adjustment by rotating adjustment screw. Refer to individual vehicle chapter for procedure. When the brake pedal is depressed, both the primary (front brake) and the secondary (rear brake) master cylinder pistons are moved simultaneously to exert hydraulic fluid pressure on their respective systems.
