- Connect a suitable manifold gauge set to discharge (high) and suction (low) pressure fittings.
- Start engine, then set A/C to MAX position and blower setting to maximum speed.
- Stabilize in-vehicle temperature to 70-80°F.

The fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. This residual pressure must be relieved before servicing the fuel system. To avoid injury or fire, release pressure from the fuel system before disconnecting any fuel line.
The fuel system pressure must be relieved prior to disconnecting fuel lines to prevent accidental spray of fuel.
After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driveability symptoms may occur. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more while it relearns its adaptive strategy.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- To maintain driveline balance, index-mark driveshaft flange yoke and pinion flange.
- Index-mark driveshaft yoke and transmission tailshaft. Do not allow output shaft to turn.
- Remove four bolts.
- Disconnect driveshaft flange yoke from pinion flange, using a suitable tool as shown. Driveshaft flange yoke fits tightly on pinion flange pilot. Never hammer on driveshaft or any of its components to disconnect yoke from flange. Pry only in area shown, with a suitable tool, to disconnect yoke from flange.
