Accessing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Connect New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester to Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath instrument panel.
- Select vehicle to be tested from NGS menu.
- If NGS does not communicate with vehicle, proceed as follows:
- Ensure program card is properly installed.
- Inspect connections to vehicle.
- Ensure ignition is in On position.
- If NGS still does not communicate with vehicle, refer to NGS Tester manual.
- Follow NGS Tester instructions to retrieve DTC's.

- Remove sufficient brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove disc brake caliper as outlined in "Caliper Service".
- On models equipped with 2WD, remove hub grease cap, cotter pin, nut retainer, hub spindle nut and front outer wheel bearing washer, then remove outer wheel bearing.
- On all models, remove front disc brake hub and rotor.
- On models equipped with 4WD, remove hub as outlined under "Halfshaft, Replace," in "All Wheel Drive System."
