Some models are equipped with an audio coded anti-theft system that will disable the radio when the battery cable is disconnected. The system can be identified by the "ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM" on the cassette tape lid. Obtain 3 digit customer code for input. Reset system after service as follows:

- Obtain the vehicle owners radio theft protection code prior to disconnecting the battery ground cable, if equipped.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Remove the fuel fill cap to release fuel tank pressure.
- Place a shop towel over the union bolt at top of fuel filter. Slowly loosen the union bolt allowing fuel pressure to bleed down.
- Whenever the union bolt is loosened to relieve fuel system pressure, always replace the bolt gasket.

- Unstake driveshaft hub nut.
- With an assistant applying brakes, remove and discard driveshaft hub nut.
- Remove bolt and disconnect hose from shock absorber body.
- Loosen, but do not remove, the two bolts on the lower end of shock absorber.
- Remove bolt and nut and disconnect strut rod from rear of axle carrier.
- Remove bolts and nuts and disconnect both lower control arms from axle carrier.
