For the following procedures, refer to Fig. for assistance.
- Remove master cylinder boot.
- Remove setscrew and reservoir tank, then the cap and strainer from reservoir.
- Remove two grommets and place cylinder in vise.
- Push piston in and remove stopper bolt, Fig. .
- Push pistons in and remove snap ring, then No. 1 piston carefully by hand.
- Place cylinder on edges of two wooden blocks and tap on cylinder until No. 2 piston comes out.
Inspection
Clean parts with compressed air. Inspect cylinder bore for rust and scoring. Also, inspect for wear or damag...

Some models are equipped with an audio coded anti-theft system that will disable the radio when the battery cable is disconnected. The system can be identified by the "ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM" on the cassette tape lid. Obtain 3 digit customer code for input. Reset system after service as follows:

- Remove front wheel and reinstall lug nuts to locate disc temporarily.
- Remove caliper from torque plate and suspend so brake hose is not under tension. Do not disconnect brake hose.
- Refer to Figs. through and remove the following components:
- Brake pads.
- Anti-squeal shims.
- Pad wear indicator plates.
- Support plates.
- Anti-squeal springs.
- Install new pad support plates.
- Install new pad wear indicator plates on each pad with arrow pointing in direction of disc rotation.
- Install new anti-squeal shims on each pad.

- Block off outlet holes with fingers, and release pedal. Repeat three or four times.
