DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2001 Volvo V70 AUTOMOBILES
Includes CV axle, universal joint, and driveline replacement, for domestic and imported 2001 Volvo V70 cars and light trucks from 1990+.
DRIVESHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 2001 Volvo V70 2.4 L5 GAS
- Raise and support vehicle on lift.
- Remove lefthand hub cap.
- Remove lefthand driveshaft nut and washer.
- Remove left front wheel lug nuts.
- Remove lefthand splash guards under engine.
- Remove lefthand splash guard in wheel arch
- Remove drive shaft from transmission enough to free snap ring in differential drive using suitable tool.
- Disconnecting drive shaft from hub using suitable tool. If the drive shaft sticks in the hub, tap it with a copper or rubber mallet. If required, use a universal puller. The drive shaft can be pressed in approximately 15mm.

DRIVESHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 2001 Volvo V70 2.3 L5 GAS
If same propeller shaft is to be reinstalled, mark propeller shaft CV joint in relation to bevel gear flange.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front member from body, exhaust pipe and Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).
- Remove brake pipe from mountings in member.
- Remove screws from propeller shaft. Use a suitable counterhold tool.
- Support front section of exhaust pipe so as not to put strain on exhaust manifold.
- Remove rear exhaust system assembly. If same propeller shaft is to be reused, mark propeller shaft CV joint in relation to flange.
