- Recover refrigerant as outlined under .
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove righthand splash shield.
- On models equipped with engine block heater, disconnect engine block heater electrical connector.
- On models equipped with 3.0L engine, remove mounting bolt and disconnect manifold and tube assembly. Cap or plug lines and openings.
- On all models, remove pressure relief valve.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Install new O-ring lubricated with suitable refrigerant oil.

White Flakes Come From Vents
2000-01 Expedition, F-150 & Navigator
On some of these models there may be white flakes coming from the air conditioning vents when the blower motor is operating.
This condition may be caused by excessive brazing flux utilized during manufacturing of the evaporator.
To correct this condition clean the ducts through the registers and blow off evaporator core through blower motor opening using 90-150 psi compressed air.
