Accessing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Connect a suitably programmed scan tool to DLC and follow manufacturer's instructions.
Without diagnostic scan tool, ground number 1 terminal of DLC using a special tool or suitable jumper lead. Turn ignition switch to On position, then read diagnostic trouble codes from flashing warning light.

The hydraulic brake system must be bled if air has entered the system. This could be caused by an open in the system, or replacement of a hydraulic system component. Symptoms include loss of brake operation, and a low or spongy brake pedal.
On models with ABS, use a suitable filter when adding fluid to reservoir tank.
- Ensure master cylinder reservoir is full. Add suitable brake fluid as needed, and securely install the master cylinder cap.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Position a drain pan under the wheel being bled.
- Have an assistant depress the brake pedal with a slow even pressure...

Parking Brake
- Pull parking brake lever with a force of approximately 45 lbs. and count number of clicks. Lever stroke should be 5-7 clicks.
- If parking brake lever stroke is not within specifications, proceed as follows:
- Remove center console, then loosen adjusting nut on end of cable rod to free parking brake cable.
- With engine idling, depress brake pedal several times and confirm that the pedal stroke stops changing. If pedal stroke stops changing, it indicates that automatic adjusting mechanism is functioning properly to adjust clearance between pads...
