Due to the different types of models and systems, the following typical pressure gauge indications should be used as a guide only as shown in Fig. . Refer to the "Performance Tests" or "System Pressure Check" for the particular model being tested. When indications other than normal are encountered, these typical indication charts will assist in diagnosing the refrigerant system. It should be noted that pressures may vary slightly above or below due to changes in ambient temperature and relative humidity.

Certain general service procedures apply, regardless of whether the brakes are vacuum or hydraulically assisted. Only top quality, clean brake fluid should be used. More seals and valves are used with power brake systems than with ordinary brakes, so an inferior brake fluid will do much more damage. For the same reason, ensure all dirt is kept out of the system. Additionally, on models with hydraulic assist brakes, care must be taken not to mix the fluids of the booster hydraulic system and brake hydraulic system as the fluids are not compatible.

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove engine splash shield.
- Insert a suitable drift or punch through brake caliper and into brake rotor to prevent wheel hub and bearing from turning.
- Remove wheel drive shaft spindle nut.
- Remove stabilizer shaft link.
- Disconnect outer tie rod end from steering knuckle. Do not loosen tie rod end jam nut.
- Disconnect wheel speed sensor electrical connector, then reposition wiring harness away from ball joint.
- Disconnect lower ball joint from steering knuckle.
