Thermostatic Switch
- Remove A/C temperature switch as outlined under "Component Replacement" section.
- Rotate switch to fully cold position and connect an ohmmeter to switch terminals. Meter should show continuity.
- Prepare solution of water, crushed ice, and sufficient amount of salt to reduce solution to below 20°F.
- Immerse temperature sensor of switch in ice bath while observing ohmmeter. Be careful not to get salt or water into control portion of switch.
- Ohmmeter should show no continuity while sensor is in ice ...

R-134a is a non-toxic, non-flammable, clear, odorless, liquefied gas.
R-134a refrigerant is not compatible with R-12 refrigerant. Even small amounts of R-12 in an R-134a system can cause lubricant contamination, improper air conditioning performance or compressor failure. Never add R-12 to an R-134a system.
New service ports have been added to compressor to prevent charging system with R-12 refrigerant. R-134a systems require a special compressor lubricant.

- Remove fan pulley and clutch as outlined under "Water Pump, Replace."
- Drain cooling system into suitable container.
- Remove water hoses.
- Remove mounting nut and engine suspension eye.
- Remove cable channel.
- Remove mounting bolts and thermostat housing.
- Remove thermostat.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Ensure vent arrow points upward.
- Install new gasket.
