Halfshaft inner and outer boots are not serviceable separately. Boot replacement requires entire shaft assembly replacement.
Lefthand halfshaft is shorter than right. Identify and tag halfshafts upon removal to ensure proper installation.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- While holding link ball joint stem from rotating, remove stabilizer link to shock clevis bracket nut.
- Slide link ball joint stem from clevis bracket.
- Remove clevis bracket to bottom of shock nut and pinch bolt.
- Remove shock clevis bracket to lower control arm nut and bolt.

- Mark transmission and axle flanges and rubber couplers for installation alignment.
- Remove crossmember, rear exhaust system and heat shield.
- Remove propeller shaft front and rear coupler-to-flange bolts.
- Remove center bearing mounting bolts.
- Remove propeller shaft with aid of helper. Never allow propeller shaft to hang from center bearing, or while only connected to transmission or rear axle flanges.
